Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery/Bariatric - Acute Care

About the role

The RN Clinical Nurse is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, safe, patient‑centered care in a surgery/bariatric acute‑care setting. Working under Nurse Managers, the role follows evidence‑based standards aligned with the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the nursing process – assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation – to deliver individualized, evidence‑based care.
• Provide relationship‑based, culturally sensitive, patient‑centered care, involving patients and families in goal setting and education.
• Coordinate safe, quality care through effective communication, documentation and teamwork, fostering a respectful clinical environment.
• Participate in performance improvement, research, shared governance and protocol development to enhance patient outcomes.
• Support professional development by completing competency assessments, mentoring peers and serving as a preceptor.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Current RN license (single‑state or multi‑state compact) and BLS certification.
• Less than 1 year of clinical experience; new graduates are welcome.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork and commitment to quality improvement.
