Product Engineering Lead – AI Assistant (Remote)

About the role

Tether is building QV.AC, a privacy‑preserving, on‑device AI assistant. As Product Engineering Lead you will turn product vision into reliable features that run on real devices, balancing performance, reliability and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead app and feature teams day‑to‑day, removing blockers, reviewing code and ensuring timely delivery.
• Define and enforce high engineering standards for performance, reliability and clean APIs.
• Own technical design of features and the API surface between the AI core and the application.
• Collaborate closely with AI research and deep‑tech teams on model integration, code reviews and design decisions.
• Partner with product managers to translate roadmap into scoped, buildable work and push back when scope and reality diverge.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing engineers or leads who ship consumer‑focused, AI‑powered products.
• Strong product sense with the ability to evaluate feature value versus complexity.
• Intuition for on‑device AI constraints such as model size, latency, memory and battery.
• Hands‑on use of AI tools, experimentation with new models and capabilities.
• Initiative, curiosity, resilience and openness to direct critique.

Required skills

• Deep JavaScript expertise.
• React development.
• Experience with on‑device inference and AI toolchains.
• Knowledge of LLM evaluation and cross‑platform mobile/desktop app development.
