Physical Therapy Assistant PRN – Acute Care

About the role

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides hands‑on support to patients in an acute‑care setting, helping them regain mobility, strength, coordination, and range of motion under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Key responsibilities

• Implement prescribed treatment plans and select appropriate therapeutic activities.
• Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to revise patient goals and track progress.
• Educate patients and families on exercises, home programs, and safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation for each session and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Serve as a referral resource for staff, families, and physicians regarding rehabilitation services.
• Deliver cost‑conscious, high‑quality care and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in staff meetings, ongoing education, and mandatory training to retain licensure.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy.
• Current PTA license.
• BLS certification.
• Strong communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Team‑oriented mindset with basic computer proficiency.
