About the role

The County Director 2 for Child Welfare Services leads the DFCS office in Worth County, overseeing the delivery of child protection and family support programs. This senior position ensures compliance with state policies while fostering a safe environment for children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all child welfare services and administrative operations for a Class 2 County DFCS office.
• Ensure agency compliance with policies, documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Build and maintain cooperative, team‑oriented relationships within the unit, with other agencies, and the community.
• Develop, administer, and monitor the office budget.
• Facilitate communication on case, procedural, and policy matters.
• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and, when necessary, discharge social services staff.
• Lead and manage a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability, and social services.
• Direct human‑resources functions and administrative activities for social services employees.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising social services or child welfare staff.
• Strong knowledge of DFCS policies, child safety regulations, and public assistance programs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building community and inter‑agency partnerships.
• Leadership capability to guide a diverse team toward service excellence.
