Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery/Bariatric – Acute Care

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will join an interdisciplinary acute‑care team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care for surgery and bariatric patients. Working under the guidance of Nurse Managers, the RN follows evidence‑based standards, the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using critical thinking and individualized care.
• Provide relationship‑based, culturally sensitive care tailored to diverse patient populations.
• Partner with patients and families through effective communication, education, and goal‑oriented care planning.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary communication and documentation to ensure safe, quality care.
• Participate in performance improvement, research, shared governance, and protocol development.
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor to support professional development of staff.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of direct patient‑care experience.
• Current RN license (multi‑state compact) and Basic Life Support certification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, critical‑thinking, and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies.
