Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager leads the core functions of a DHL eCommerce distribution centre during their shift, ensuring timely and accurate mailings while maintaining cost‑effective operations. This role supports the ongoing development and implementation of DHL’s eCommerce business plan.

Key responsibilities

• Manage production, quality, and transportation processes in line with DHL policies to maximise profitability.
• Coach Operations Supervisors and hourly staff, conduct performance evaluations and foster high morale and retention.
• Develop and communicate weekly operation plans to meet customer volume targets.
• Identify and implement improvements to production methods, working conditions and efficiency.
• Coordinate local and regional transportation activities and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee quality functions, monitor internal/external controls and drive new quality initiatives.
• Maintain facility equipment performance and act as liaison with on‑site USPS, staying current on regulatory changes.
• Partner with Human Resources on time‑and‑attendance, staffing, evaluations and employee relations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Management or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work all shifts, including midnight.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with Lean methodologies (preferred).
