Charge Nurse (RN)

About the role

The RN Clinical Charge Nurse leads daily unit operations, ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care while serving as a caregiver with modified patient assignments. This role coordinates interdisciplinary teams, promotes effective communication, and drives clinical excellence across the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Manage patient assignments, discharge planning, and bed flow coordination.
• Conduct patient rounds to evaluate care quality and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with physicians, staff, and leadership to optimize care delivery.
• Support staff development through mentorship and fostering a healthy work environment.
• Participate in performance improvement, evidence‑based practice, and research activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Active RN license (single‑state or multi‑state compact).
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; 2+ years preferred, especially in relief charge roles.
• Current BLS certification; specialty certification preferred.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise, accountability, and a patient‑centered, team‑focused care approach.
