Senior Bridge Engineer

About the role

As part of SMEC's expanding transport infrastructure portfolio, we are seeking an experienced professional for a Senior Bridge Engineer position on a major road and bridge supervision assignment in Georgia. The successful candidate will provide specialist oversight for bridge construction activities and ensure structural works meet approved designs and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist oversight for bridge construction activities on a major road and bridge supervision assignment in Georgia.
• Ensure that all structural works are delivered in full compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), EUR ING, or equivalent registration.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in bridge engineering, construction, and structural supervision.
• At least 5 years of international project experience, preferably across multiple countries.
• Previous experience on ADB, World Bank, EBRD, AIIB or other MDB‑funded projects is highly desirable.
• Experience in Central Asia or the Caucasus region is strongly preferred.

• Bridge construction methodologies.
• Preparation and review of contractor submissions and shop drawings.
• Development of method statements and management of temporary works.
• Quality assurance and control procedures.
• FIDIC‑based contract administration and construction supervision.
