Principal AI Engineer – Platform Team

About the role

We are a fast‑growing Series A startup building a unified marketing intelligence platform for enterprise customers. As a Principal AI Engineer on the Platform team, you will set the technical direction for AI‑assisted development and own the core data pipeline infrastructure that powers hundreds of integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve Python‑based extraction, load, and pipeline systems serving 500+ integrations at scale.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks and drive performance, reliability, and scalability improvements using Kubernetes, distributed systems, ClickHouse, and PostgreSQL.
• Modernize legacy components (LES, DSAS, ULS) into AI‑native, scalable infrastructure.
• Define and implement agentic development frameworks that integrate AI‑assisted coding tools into the delivery process with proper validation, testing, and guardrails.
• Make and document critical technical decisions, set standards for code quality, system reliability, and performance.
• Mentor engineers on AI‑assisted development practices, helping them ship faster while managing risk.
• Collaborate with product and AI teams to roll out agentic frameworks and new integration capabilities.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with at least 2 years in a principal or architect role.
• Proven track record designing and scaling complex, production‑grade systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, agentic coding) and building frameworks for automated code maintenance and rollout.
• Strong background in distributed systems, Kubernetes, workflow orchestration (Temporal), and message queues (RabbitMQ).
• Experience building secure, resilient systems and applying reliability practices at scale (observability, alerting, incident response).
• Solid SQL expertise and query optimization for PostgreSQL and ClickHouse.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, ambiguous startup environment and within the EST timezone.
