Data Governance Officer

About the role

The Data Governance Officer will support the implementation of the Bank of Georgia’s data governance framework, platform, policies and processes. The role ensures the quality and proper stewardship of the bank’s data assets and maintains the Data Intelligence Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Data Governance platform on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Collaborate with Business Data Stewards, Data Owners and IT teams as the primary point of contact.
• Mentor and guide data stewards, maintaining governance procedures and the operating model.
• Ensure metadata, data lineage and data quality standards are documented, monitored and closed.
• Coordinate data‑quality issue resolution, escalation and participation in governance committees.
• Support continuous improvement of data‑governance processes and track policy compliance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance or large‑scale data projects.
• Strong understanding of data‑governance principles, frameworks and best practices.
• Experience in banking or financial services is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.

Required skills

• SQL for data querying and analysis.
• Data Warehouse development.
• Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.
• Data modelling and ETL processes.
• Metadata management, data cataloguing, data dictionaries and business glossaries.
• Data quality management, data privacy and data security awareness.
• Documentation of data processes (e.g., BPMN diagrams).
