Director, Field Engineering – Financial Services

About the role

As the Director of Field Engineering for Financial Services, you will partner with enterprise customers to democratize Data and AI across their organizations using Databricks solutions. Reporting to the Tech GM of Field Engineering, you will lead a team of pre‑sales Managers and Solutions Architects focused on acquiring new customers and driving strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, manage, and develop first‑line managers and a growing team of technical pre‑sales Solutions Architects.
• Create a collaborative, psychologically safe culture that emphasizes customer obsession, truth‑seeking, and diversity.
• Build trust‑based, long‑term relationships with senior stakeholders in large financial institutions.
• Drive solution‑ and value‑based selling, influencing account strategy and revenue potential.
• Support complex sales cycles, communicate business‑value focused solutions, and coordinate cross‑functional partners (Sales, Engineering, Marketing).
• Lead operational rigor, visibility, and issue escalation for high‑growth business.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of second‑line leadership experience managing teams of 30+ individuals.
• 10+ years of overall leadership experience in high‑growth enterprise software or cloud environments.
• Proven record of driving large transactions and high‑growth customer acquisition.
• Strong ability to influence, develop, and empower teams toward shared objectives.
