About the role
We are looking for a Senior Railway Transport Specialist to lead and optimise railway logistics across the CIS region, focusing on Georgia, Azerbaijan and Central Asia. The role will ensure seamless multimodal connections between rail, sea and road networks.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and optimise railway transportation across CIS countries, especially South Caucasus and Central Asia corridors.
- Coordinate shipments with national railway operators such as Georgian Railways, Azerbaijan Railways and networks in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and neighbouring states.
- Ensure compliance with regional railway regulations, tariffs and operational standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with rolling‑stock owners, both private wagon operators and state‑owned railways, overseeing allocation, utilisation and turnaround.
- Negotiate leasing terms, usage agreements and priority access for wagons.
- Develop direct working relationships with key ports and terminals (e.g., Poti, Batumi, Alat, Kuryk, Aktau) to coordinate sea‑to‑rail and road‑to‑rail transshipments.
- Monitor cargo handling performance, resolve bottlenecks and ensure efficient transshipment operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with railway administrations, freight forwarders, terminal operators, government bodies and Globalink branches.
- Identify inefficiencies in transport chains, monitor KPIs such as transit times and cost efficiency, and implement improvement plans.
- Prepare contingency plans for disruptions such as border delays or infrastructure constraints.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in railway logistics within the CIS region.
- In‑depth knowledge of CIS railway systems, tariff structures and cross‑border rail operations.
- Proven experience with multimodal transport, especially rail‑sea integration.
- Established network with railway administrations, rolling‑stock owners and port authorities.
Required skills
- Operational knowledge of regional rail systems.
- Experience in rolling‑stock management and wagon allocation.
- Stakeholder management across railway, port and governmental entities.
- Ability to analyse KPIs and implement transport optimisation measures.
