Security Engineer - Node.js Runtime Protection (Remote)

About the role

CloudLinux is a remote-first company behind Imunify360, a security suite for shared and VPS/Dedicated servers. It wants to add a runtime protection layer for Node.js applications, which are often AI-generated and deployed by non-technical owners who cannot patch their own code. You will build this new product end-to-end, defining its scope, approach and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the product: decide what is intercepted, what is not, and the customer-facing surface.
• Define the technical approach: instrumentation strategy, deployment shape and programming language, consulting with architects.
• Implement the solution using the provided tooling stack, including LLM subscriptions and modern dev infrastructure.
• Use cross-layer threat intelligence from the existing stack (millions of monitored sites, malware samples, IP reputation, attack feeds).
• Build detection logic and tune it against runtime overhead, false positives, false negatives and customer escalations.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and shipping a new product, security solution, major feature or technical system from scratch.
• Strong evidence of end-to-end ownership, from investigation and architecture through release and production iteration.
• Ability to act as PM, architect, lead engineer and QA for the product.
• Nice to have: prior work on runtime protection, application firewalls or instrumentation tooling; malware analysis or incident response background; familiarity with managed hosting; authored public research, vulnerability disclosures or detection rulesets.

Required skills

• Web application security and practical exploitation knowledge.
• Detection rules at scale and understanding of how they behave.
• Comfort directing AI coding agents to high-quality output.
• Nice to have: Node.js runtime and JavaScript ecosystem familiarity.
