Lead Game Designer - Meta Vertical

About the role

ChillBase, an independent game studio, is launching a new project and building a new meta-vertical from the ground up. As Lead Game Designer you will own feature development end-to-end, from concept and documentation through validation in the build and final quality. The location is listed as Yerevan and Tbilisi, with hybrid or office work in Tbilisi.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the vision for systems, their relationships, progression and economy
• Own the domain roadmap with the Producer, set priorities and assign features across designers
• Set documentation standards and feature acceptance criteria, and coordinate with peer teams and Production
• Take part in hiring and onboarding designers, give regular feedback and support team development
• Own the quality and overall results of the domain
• Break down major features into tasks, write and maintain GDDs and specs, identify risks and dependencies, and review and accept features in builds
• Analyse external projects and references

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a Game Designer, System Designer, Product Game Designer or Feature Owner
• Experience owning large features from ideation through implementation and build validation
• Experience writing and maintaining vision documents, specifications and GDDs
• Ability to make independent design decisions and explain the rationale behind them
• English sufficient to read technical and professional literature
• Nice to have: pre-production or early production experience, mobile F2P experience, multiplayer/open-world/social projects, game economy knowledge, Unity, and mentoring other designers

Required skills

• Strong understanding of game systems, flows, states and dependencies
• Unity (a plus)
