Grants Accountant (Public Sector)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Grants Accountant to join the finance team at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. In this role you will ensure the proper management, reporting, and compliance of grant‑funded accounts, supporting the college’s mission to serve over 10 million Georgia citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Manage grant fund accounts and maintain accurate records.
• Develop internal financial reports and prepare budget comparison analyses.
• Assist in the administration of budgets and perform account reconciliation functions.
• Analyze financial reports to verify fiscal integrity and compliance with policies and standards.
• Collect and analyze financial statistics to identify trends.
• Balance and reconcile journals, ledgers, batch reports, bank statements, payroll documents, and college‑specific reports.
• Perform accurate accounting calculations and technical report writing assignments.
• Prepare clear and accurate financial statements and other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field) and at least three years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial analysis.
• Alternatively, an Associate degree in Accounting with two years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with grant funds and adhere to governmental accounting standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of accounting principles and grant fund management.
• Experience preparing financial reports and performing reconciliations.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess financial data and trends.
