About the role
Olsson is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to support the planning and design of electrical systems for federal facilities and infrastructure projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining exposure to federal design standards such as UFC, DoD, and VA while developing expertise in power distribution, lighting, communications, and life‑safety systems.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in designing electrical systems for federal facilities, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, communications, and fire alarm systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under the guidance of licensed engineers.
- Utilize design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, and AGi32 for modeling and analysis.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams and support project schedules.
- Research federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power.
- Minimum of one year of engineering experience, internship experience, or equivalent academic project experience.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to travel for field work.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience using SKM and AGi32 or similar electrical modeling tools.
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and building electrical systems.
