Assistant Manager – Parts Development Commodity Buyer (PE System)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to lead parts development commodity buying for the PE System at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. The role supports EV mass‑production programs by building and managing a robust supplier base and ensuring cost‑effective, high‑quality parts delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Understand program sourcing milestones and support product launches.
• Identify, evaluate and select suppliers in collaboration with engineering and other teams.
• Prepare and own RFIs, RFPs and RFQs for multi‑year production volumes.
• Develop bid packages, conduct bidder conferences, analyze proposals, negotiate terms and administer contracts.
• Negotiate long‑term agreements, drive cost‑reduction initiatives and maintain best‑in‑class pricing.
• Guide suppliers through HMG’s Parts Development process from cradle to mass production, ensuring quality and delivery targets.
• Monitor supplier performance, implement improvement plans and resolve quality or delivery issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production and planning teams to develop purchasing strategies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supply‑base information and support supply‑chain continuity.
• Hire, develop and manage a team of buyers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive procurement, preferably with EV motor, inverter or battery components.
• Proven experience managing supplier relationships and leading cost‑reduction projects.
