Technical Support Engineer – Linux Systems Administrator (L2/L3)

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer with strong Linux Systems Administration skills to join a leading web‑hosting client. The role involves L2/L3 support, infrastructure management and collaboration with a technical team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain GNU/Linux servers and virtualised/containerised platforms (OpenVZ, KVM, Docker).
• Deploy, manage and troubleshoot shared‑hosting control panels such as cPanel/WHM and Plesk.
• Support web applications built on WordPress, Laravel and other frameworks; resolve complex PHP issues and assist with Node.js or Python stacks.
• Configure network protocols, firewalls and Web Application Firewalls (ModSecurity, Imunify360) and respond to security incidents.
• Diagnose mail flow problems using Exim, Dovecot, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and manage external mail relays.
• Monitor performance and tune Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Assist with migrations of hosting accounts, virtual machines and mail systems, and contribute to disaster‑recovery testing.

Required profile

• Several years of hands‑on experience in web‑hosting support and system administration.
• Advanced Linux administration skills; familiarity with Windows Server, IIS and MSSQL for cross‑platform cases.
• Deep knowledge of the cPanel/WHM ecosystem, CloudLinux (LVE, CageFS) and shared‑hosting constraints.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS) and security best practices.
• Proven ability to manage escalated tickets and work collaboratively with peers.
