Systems Engineer

About the role

Scientific Games is looking for a self‑motivated, experienced Systems Engineer to join a small but growing Technical Operations team that supports our lottery solutions. The role involves both standard support tasks and project‑specific work such as new product releases, enhancements and upgrades for existing and new customers.

Key responsibilities

• Support new customer implementations and maintain existing solutions.
• Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve system availability, latency, or performance issues.
• Monitor system capacity and incorporate planning considerations.
• Identify and address system security concerns.
• Manage incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Define, refine and track Service Level Objectives.
• Set up and maintain system monitoring; keep alarm documentation up‑to‑date in Knowledge Base articles.
• Participate in a 24x7x365 on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years experience in system administration in a high‑demand, highly available environment.
• Extensive experience with Linux Ubuntu servers, command line, bash scripting and basic configurations.
• Strong background supporting AWS or similar cloud environments.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker or Podman); Kubernetes desired.
• Solid understanding of SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including configuration, data analysis and replication (AOAG).
• Automation scripting skills using PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Strong technical problem‑solving skills and familiarity with protocols such as SFTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP/S.
• Proven communication, presentation and documentation abilities.
• Strong interpersonal, time‑management and prioritisation skills.
