Street View Pedestrian Operator – Field Data Collector

About the role

The Pedestrian Operator captures high‑resolution street‑level imagery and sensor data on foot for web‑mapping platforms. The role involves walking extensive routes, operating specialised cameras and LiDAR equipment, and ensuring data quality while adhering to safety and privacy protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Follow detailed collection plans covering specific geographic areas, times and conditions.
• Operate high‑resolution cameras, 360° imaging devices and LiDAR units in public spaces.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues on‑site under technical support guidance.
• Maintain strict compliance with privacy, safety and data‑acquisition standards.
• Interact professionally with the public and authorities, escalating complex queries.
• Complete daily reports on progress, equipment status and any logistical challenges.
• Manage inventory, charging, cleaning and shipping of equipment as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma; associate degree or technical certification is a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in field‑based data collection, surveying, delivery or similar outdoor roles.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean record (if a company vehicle is used).
• Physical ability to walk for 6 + hours per day and work in varied weather conditions.
• Strong written and spoken English (minimum B1 level) for collaboration with international teams.

Required skills

• Operation of high‑resolution cameras and 360° imaging equipment.
• Use of LiDAR sensors for data capture.
• GPS navigation and digital map handling on mobile devices.
• Basic troubleshooting of electronic field equipment.
