Software Engineer – Backend AI Platform

About the role

As a Software Engineer on Relativity's aiR Services team, you will design, build, and operate the backend services that power the company’s generative AI platform. You will work at the intersection of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and applied AI to deliver reliable, high‑throughput solutions for legal data intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement performant, scalable, and secure backend services for the aiR platform.
• Develop systems that handle multi‑region, multi‑cloud AI traffic, including asynchronous job orchestration and distributed processing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to ensure high‑quality, reliable systems at massive scale.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, leveraging static analysis and robust test strategies.
• Contribute to engineering process improvements and share best practices across the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience building backend services for large‑scale, distributed environments.
• Strong focus on code quality, performance, and security.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑moving engineering team.
