Senior Software Engineer (Java / Spring Boot)

About the role

CityPay.io is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of high‑performance backend services. You will work on a cutting‑edge cryptocurrency ecosystem, building scalable APIs and event‑driven architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop resilient backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design systems that handle large‑scale event‑driven data flows with Kafka or message queues.
• Write clear, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code.
• Collaborate with DevOps and QA to ensure services are reliable, observable, and deployable.
• Optional: Containerize services and manage deployments in Kubernetes environments.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Java (11 or 21) and micro‑services architecture.
• Proven expertise in Spring Boot for production‑grade APIs.
• Solid knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka or similar event streaming platforms.
• Practical knowledge of RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or other message brokers.
• Experience containerizing applications with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Deep understanding of software testing standards and experience writing tests with JUnit, Cucumber, and Gherkin.
