Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Cloudflare & Acquia CMS

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of a high‑traffic enterprise Acquia (Drupal) platform. The role focuses on assessing and optimizing a multi‑tier caching architecture that spans Cloudflare, Varnish, Memcached and the Acquia backend.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and document the current infrastructure, including integration between Cloudflare, Varnish, Memcached and Acquia.
• Analyse cache‑hit ratios, identify uncacheable components and propose improvements.
• Compare configurations against Drupal, Acquia and SRE best practices, delivering actionable roadmaps.
• Maintain and optimise the end‑to‑end caching pipeline (Cloudflare Edge → Varnish → Memcached → Drupal).
• Implement robust cache‑invalidation strategies using Drupal Cache Tags, acquia_purge and Cloudflare API.
• Author and tune VCL files for custom headers, redirects and bypass rules.
• Set up monitoring, logging and alerting dashboards across Acquia, Varnish, Cloudflare and APM tools.
• Participate in incident response, diagnose production bottlenecks and conduct post‑incident reviews.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience auditing complex web architectures and producing technical assessment reports.
• Hands‑on experience with the Acquia Cloud ecosystem.
• Strong English proficiency (B2 or higher).
• Ability to translate findings into prioritized technical backlogs.

Required skills

• Cloudflare configuration and API usage.
• Varnish caching, VCL scripting and performance tuning.
• Memcached administration and troubleshooting.
• Acquia Cloud platform knowledge.
• Drupal (especially Drupal 8/9) internals and caching mechanisms.
• APM tools such as New Relic or Datadog.
• Monitoring, logging and alerting setup (e.g., dashboards, alerts).
