Senior Platform Engineer – Amazon EKS

About the role

N-iX is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build and operate production‑grade Amazon EKS clusters for a leading Azerbaijani telecommunications operator. The role focuses on hybrid cloud architecture, AI/ML workloads and secure, compliant cloud foundations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision and maintain Amazon EKS clusters across AWS and on‑premises using EKS Hybrid Nodes and Cilium VXLAN CNI.
• Implement dynamic autoscaling with Karpenter and manage immutable Bottlerocket node images.
• Configure EMR‑on‑EKS for distributed Spark and PySpark analytics workloads.
• Orchestrate GPU node pools (NVIDIA A100/L40S, EC2 GPU) for LLM training and real‑time speech inference.
• Set up GitOps pipelines with Argo CD, Helm and GitLab CI for continuous deployment.
• Enforce security and compliance using OPA/Kyverno policies, IRSA/Pod Identities and Kubernetes admission controllers.
• Develop Terraform and AWS CDK IaC templates for repeatable cluster lifecycle management.
• Integrate logging, metrics and tracing with CloudWatch and on‑prem Splunk/SIEM.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on Platform Engineering, DevOps or SRE experience with enterprise Kubernetes/EKS.
• Deep expertise in EKS Hybrid Nodes, Cilium CNI, Karpenter and Bottlerocket.
• Proven experience with EMR‑on‑EKS, GPU orchestration and AI/ML workloads.
• Strong knowledge of GitOps (Argo CD, Helm) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI).
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes security (OPA, Kyverno, RBAC) and secrets management (Vault, CyberArk).
• Proficiency in IaC using Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Upper‑intermediate English communication skills.
