Parts Development Buyer Manager – Powertrain Engine & Transmission

About the role

The Parts Development Buyer Manager will lead sourcing and supplier management for powertrain engine and transmission components supporting the launch of new vehicle programs. You will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality parts are delivered on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Understand program sourcing milestones and develop supplier strategies for multi‑year production volumes.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers in collaboration with engineering and cross‑functional teams.
• Prepare and own RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, conduct bidder conferences, and negotiate contracts.
• Lead cost‑reduction initiatives and negotiate long‑term agreements to achieve best‑in‑class pricing.
• Manage the supplier lifecycle from development through mass production, ensuring compliance with ISIR/PPAP requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, drive quality improvements, and resolve issues affecting cost, quality, or delivery.
• Develop purchasing strategies with engineering, quality, and production planners.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database and prevent supply‑chain disruptions.
• Hire, develop, and manage a team of buyers and specialists.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive parts procurement or related sourcing roles.
• Strong knowledge of RFI/RFP/RFQ processes, contract negotiation, and supplier development.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex supplier relationships.
