Mid‑Senior Shopify Developer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑senior Shopify Developer to join Bolder Apps on a remote monthly retainer. You will build and extend Shopify storefronts and custom apps for a portfolio of US‑based startup and enterprise clients, delivering production‑ready code that other engineers can maintain.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end Shopify theme and storefront projects, from brief through launch, across multiple client engagements.
• Develop and maintain Liquid sections, templates, JSON templates, metafields and clean theme architecture.
• Implement modern Shopify surfaces such as Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions when theme edits are insufficient.
• Build or extend custom Shopify apps using Node.js, Remix or similar frameworks for admin, storefront or checkout workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and US clients on scope, performance, SEO basics, analytics hooks and launch risk.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools to accelerate development while reviewing output for quality.
• Identify technical risks early, flag unrealistic scopes, and ensure clear handoff documentation and repository hygiene.

Required profile

• 3+ years of production Shopify experience with live stores or apps, demonstrated via a portfolio or list of launched projects.
• Agency or consultancy background, comfortable speaking with founders or merchants and managing expectations.
• Proven ability to untangle complex, live themes without breaking functionality.
• Strong understanding of Shopify’s modern development ecosystem, including Checkout Extensibility and Functions.
