Mechanic – Dairy Processing Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to lead maintenance activities for dairy processing and packaging equipment. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical assets, maximising uptime and supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives in a 24/7 production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across dairy processing and packaging lines.
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedules to minimise production downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and utility systems.
• Prioritise work orders based on safety, operational impact and production needs.
• Monitor equipment performance, track KPIs (uptime, MTBF, MTTR) and drive reliability programmes.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades and new asset installations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories and spare‑parts inventory.
• Ensure compliance with dairy industry regulations, food‑safety and sanitation standards.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, TPM and continuous‑improvement methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Maintenance Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience maintaining dairy processing equipment such as pasteurizers, homogenizers, separators, fillers, packaging machines, CIP systems and refrigeration utilities.
• Experience working in a 24/7 production environment and coordinating maintenance teams or contractors.
• Familiarity with dairy industry regulations and food‑safety standards is preferred.

Required skills

• Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and PLC/automation expertise.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms (e.g., 1C, SAP PM, Maximo, Infor).
• Knowledge of predictive‑maintenance technologies and reliability‑engineering principles.
• Ability to analyse equipment data, calculate MTBF/MTTR and implement TPM, Lean and Six‑Sigma tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex production equipment.
