Estimator I – Construction Cost Estimation

About the role

HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group is looking for an Estimator I to develop, evaluate, and present scope and cost data for a variety of construction projects. You will work on estimates ranging from high‑level planning figures to definitive proposals, supporting the design and construction of critical infrastructure such as data centers, industrial facilities, and labs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, compile, and present cost estimates for construction projects at planning, preliminary, and definitive stages.
• Interpret construction plans and specifications to produce accurate cost data.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters.
• Coordinate with design and construction teams to gather scope and schedule information.
• Prepare estimates for full projects, individual components, or change orders.
• Perform additional duties as required to support estimating activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or equivalent experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of MEP systems and ability to interpret construction schedules.
• Previous field experience is preferred.
• Project experience in data centers, chip manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, or laboratory environments is a plus.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI‑SP, EIT) are advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimating and construction software such as Sage, Timberline, Bluebeam, Revit, HCSS, Excel, Navisworks, and Synchro.
• Strong analytical skills for cost evaluation and schedule interpretation.
