Deputy Team Leader / Senior Resident Engineer – Road & Bridge Projects

About the role

SMEC, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a Deputy Team Leader / Senior Resident Engineer to support construction supervision for a major roads, highways and bridge infrastructure project. The role will be based on‑site in Tbilisi and will work closely with the Team Leader and the Employer’s Representative to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in implementing project plans and schedules.
• Oversee on‑site supervision of road and bridge construction works.
• Manage and coordinate the national consultant team.
• Facilitate communication between the construction supervision contractor (CSC) and the Employer’s Representative.
• Monitor construction progress, quality, safety compliance and report deviations.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings and site activities.
• Ensure all works comply with project specifications, standards and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Professional civil engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in road construction projects.
• At least 10 years of site‑based supervision and administration of road and bridge works.
• Experience in tunnel works is an advantage.
• Proven track record in construction supervision and site management.
• Strong coordination, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
