VMware Architect

About the role

We are looking for an experienced VMware Architect to design and deliver a Unified Automation Platform. The role focuses on building automation and self‑service provisioning for our VMware estate, ensuring secure, standardized infrastructure across hybrid environments.

Key responsibilities

• Architect automation and self‑service provisioning for vSphere, including VM provisioning, placement modules, cloud‑init/cloudbase‑init integration, and Ansible handoff.
• Design Infrastructure as Code modules for VMware DRS (affinity/anti‑affinity rules, resource pools) and vSAN (storage policies, cluster configuration).
• Develop VMware SRM (protection groups, recovery plans) and HCX (site pairing, network extension, migration profiles) for disaster‑recovery and workload mobility.
• Collaborate with Network Architects on NSX‑T segmentation, distributed firewall rules, load balancing and NAT.
• Define integration patterns between on‑prem VMware and Azure VMware Solution (AVS), ensuring consistent identity and RBAC, and work on ExpressRoute connectivity.
• Establish testing and validation approaches for long‑running VMware cycles and provide architectural oversight during implementation and adoption.

Required profile

• 10+ years of VMware architecture experience across vSphere, vSAN, SRM and HCX in enterprise or service‑provider settings.
• Proven background in automating VMware infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and Configuration as Code (Ansible).
• Strong knowledge of NSX‑T networking and distributed firewall concepts.
• Experience designing disaster‑recovery automation and workload‑migration tooling.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud connectivity, especially Azure VMware Solution.
