Technical Operations Engineer

About the role

Scientific Games is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to support its lottery platform solutions. The role involves ensuring smooth operation of Windows and SQL Server environments, handling incidents, and contributing to product releases and enhancements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 support for lottery platforms and maintain existing customer solutions.
• Support new customer implementations and assist with product releases, enhancements, and upgrades.
• Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting system availability, latency, or performance.
• Monitor system capacity, plan for growth, and address security concerns.
• Manage incidents within agreed SLAs and define, refine, and track Service Level Objectives.
• Set up and maintain system monitoring, ensuring alarms are documented in up‑to‑date Knowledge Base articles.
• Create and maintain support documentation and procedures.
• Participate in a 24 × 7 × 365 on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in system administration within a high‑demand, highly available environment.
• SME‑level knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (administration, configuration, diagnostics).
• Basic proficiency with Ubuntu Linux (command line, bash scripting, configurations).
• Strong understanding of SQL Server, including configuration, data analysis, replication, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Working knowledge of common protocols such as SFTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS.
• Familiarity with web certificate management.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, time‑management, and prioritization abilities.
