Senior Scala Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Scala Engineer to join a Fortune 100 industrial manufacturer’s cloud‑based platform. The team builds scalable APIs, event‑driven services and analytics pipelines that support quoting, ordering, telemetry and lifecycle management for heavy equipment worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance backend services using Scala.
• Build reliable event‑processing, notification and integration services on AWS (Kinesis) and Akka/Pekko.
• Develop APIs and distributed components for highly available microservice architectures.
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design and engineering decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and ensure robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in testing, code review and documentation.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional experience developing backend services with Scala.
• Strong knowledge of functional programming and libraries such as Cats, Cats Effect or ZIO.
• Hands‑on experience with Java, Akka (or Apache Pekko), and AWS services (Kinesis mandatory).
• Proficiency with Docker, PostgreSQL and SQL query development.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Solid understanding of microservice and event‑driven architectures and Agile development practices.
