Senior Estimator

About the role

HDR is seeking a Senior Estimator to join its Building Engineering Services Group. In this position you will lead cost‑estimating efforts for capital projects and services, supporting the design of high‑performance infrastructure that powers the digital age.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general and discipline‑specific cost estimating for capital and service projects.
• Analyze data, identify issues, and make recommendations to improve cost accuracy.
• Support estimate reporting, reviews, and proposal preparation.
• Provide technical direction to assigned personnel and coordinate effort levels with vendors and internal functions.
• Execute quantity takeoffs from design drawings across multiple disciplines and customize forms for best‑practice reporting.
• Prepare detailed pricing for field labor, non‑manual labor, and home‑office overhead costs.
• Develop unit rates for discipline‑specific items and assist in conceptual quantity development for design‑build projects.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in construction or engineering cost estimating.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks within broadly defined parameters.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on data‑driven decision making.
• Experience providing technical guidance to junior staff or cross‑functional teams.
