Orthopedic Technician (Full-Time)

About the role

The Orthopedic Technician (Ortho Tech) provides high‑quality patient care focused on casting, bracing, and orthotics. Working closely with orthopedic surgeons, the technician ensures proper fitting, application, and patient education to achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide casting, splinting, bracing, and orthotics services as ordered, including pre‑operative brace fitting (approximately 60%).
• Support ancillary staff with suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and pin removal while maintaining competency in brace fitting (about 25%).
• Assist with patient intake, rooming, discharge procedures, and educate patients and staff on casting and bracing (5%).
• Monitor and manage supplies within budget under management oversight (5%).
• Serve as a Patient Care Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant during staffing shortages, ensuring compliance with accreditation and safety standards (5%).

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Registered Orthopedic Technician certification.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or certified Orthopedic Technician.
• Current certifications: CMA or ROT and Basic Life Support (BLS).
