Mainframe Solution Architect

About the role

Primerica is seeking a Mainframe Solution Architect to join its Enterprise Architecture team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and modernizing IBM Mainframe applications and their integrations with other platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions for complex Mainframe applications.
• Collaborate with Application Architects and development teams to deliver solutions into production.
• Communicate and enforce Architecture and Enterprise standards across Mainframe applications and integrations.
• Provide technical leadership and guide the transition of Mainframe workloads to platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Support scalability, security, and performance of Mainframe environments.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience delivering solutions for large, complex Mainframe applications.
• Strong expertise in multi‑layered application stacks, networking, and security.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to lead by example.
• Proven experience working with large development teams and other architects.

Required skills

• COBOL programming
• DB2 and SQL
• z/OS (including z/OSMF)
• CICS, RACF, SERVAUTH
• Image Copy / reorg / load / unload utilities
• Enterprise Design Patterns
• Python or Java (plus)
• MongoDB or other NoSQL databases (plus)
• Kubernetes (plus)
• Networking and security fundamentals
