Go/Java Backend Engineer (Russian speaking)

About the role

STB Union is looking for a full‑time Backend Engineer to work remotely with at least six overlapping hours in the GMT+3 time zone. The position splits roughly 50 % of the time maintaining a large Java monolith and its surrounding microservices, and 50 % building a new Go‑based platform with Vue and PostgreSQL, leveraging AI‑first development tools.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end feature delivery together with Product, QA and DevOps teams, owning design, implementation, testing, review and production rollout.
• Develop new Go services for the upcoming platform while extending Java features and integrations on the existing system.
• Design scalable solutions for complex financial business problems and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Write maintainable, well‑tested code using Claude Code and participate in both manual and AI‑assisted code reviews.
• Monitor and maintain production systems, ensuring security and performance best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 3 years of production Go development.
• Willingness to work on Java codebases (approximately half of the work).
• Proven experience delivering new features and architecting codebases.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS (ECS, SQS, RDS), PostgreSQL, Git (GitLab/GitHub) and Docker.
• Daily use of AI coding tools with full ownership of shipped code.
• Prior remote work in a distributed team.
• Fluent Russian (C1) and English (B2), both written and spoken.
• Experience in fintech or banking sectors.
