Data Architect – AWS Data Platform & SageMaker Studio

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Consultant to serve as a long‑term, full‑time Data Architect. You will own the design, implementation, and operation of our customer’s data foundation on AWS, with a focus on Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, serverless pipelines, modern data lake formats, and AI‑enabled analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and support Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, including data catalog, blueprints, and serverless compute.
• Enable self‑service data discovery and analysis for business and technical users.
• Design and maintain repeatable, governed SMUS blueprints and IAM policies.
• Architect scalable, governed data lake solutions on Amazon S3 using Parquet, Iceberg, and Delta formats.
• Integrate Amazon OpenSearch Service for search and analytics use cases.
• Build and optimise serverless data pipelines with AWS Glue and AWS Lambda, ensuring reliability and monitoring via CloudWatch.
• Support QuickSight / QuickSight Q for dashboards and self‑service reporting.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to embed agentic AI services for intelligent data rendering.
• Apply AWS Well‑Architected Framework principles for security, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Document architectures, configurations, and operational runbooks, and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or engineering, preferably on AWS.
• Deep expertise with Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio.
• Strong background in data lake design on Amazon S3 using modern storage formats.
• Proven experience building serverless data pipelines with AWS Glue and Lambda.
