Senior Software Engineer, Python/React, AI-assisted Development

About the role

Houst, a proptech platform managing thousands of short-let homes across 20+ cities, is hiring its first engineer in Georgia. This is a fully remote, hands-on individual-contributor role with no direct reports, working with a small senior engineering team in London and Kraków during GMT/CET hours. Python backend work comes first, then React.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and ship backend services and APIs (Python 3, Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis) and the React / React Native frontends they power.
• Lead by example on AI-assisted development: agentic coding tools, prompt and context engineering, automated review, test generation and evaluation of their value.
• Set and uphold the engineering bar: CI, peer review, automated testing, observability and safe releases on AWS.
• Integrate with third-party platforms (Airbnb, booking channels, payments, messaging) and keep them reliable.
• Work with product and operations to turn real-world hosting problems into shipped software, and mentor others through review and example.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development, with deep hands-on Python and solid React.
• Daily, serious use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar) in production, with clear opinions on where they help and where they hurt.
• Track record of shipping and operating production systems, including on-call fixes.
• Fluent written and spoken English; based in Georgia and able to work as an independent contractor.

Required skills

• API design, relational databases and CI/CD (PostgreSQL, Docker, GitHub Actions or CircleCI, AWS)
• Nice to have: agentic workflows or LLM features, React Native, Elastic Stack, proptech / travel / marketplace background

What we offer

• Contractor fee of USD 4,500–6,000 per month, excluding VAT (about GEL 11,700–15,600).
