Senior Materials Engineer

About the role

SMEC, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to lead materials supervision for a major roads, tunnels and bridges project in Georgia. The role supports construction supervision activities during the EOI stage and prepares for potential award.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all materials‑related activities, including testing, inspection and reporting.
• Supervise contractor laboratories and on‑site testing operations.
• Review and approve concrete and asphalt mix designs.
• Ensure all materials meet project specifications and relevant standards.
• Monitor material quality across all construction activities.
• Lead and manage the CSC materials team and report to the Team Leader.

Required profile

• Professionally qualified Civil Engineer or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of overall experience, with at least 8 years as a Materials Engineer on similar infrastructure projects.
• Experience in climatic and geotechnical conditions comparable to Georgia is preferred.
• Strong coordination, reporting and team‑management abilities.
