Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery/Bariatric – Acute Care

About the role

The RN Clinical Nurse works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a surgery/bariatric acute‑care setting. The role follows evidence‑based practice, respects cultural diversity, and upholds nursing ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the full nursing process – assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation – to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Partner with patients and families through clear communication, education, and shared decision‑making.
• Coordinate and document safe, quality care while fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
• Participate in performance‑improvement, research, and shared‑governance activities to promote safety and best practices.
• Support professional development by completing competency assessments, mentoring peers, and serving as a preceptor.
• Engage in evidence‑based practice, data collection, and protocol development to enhance patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred) and active RN license (single‑state or multi‑state compact).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire; additional certifications may be required.
• Less than one year of nursing experience or recent completion of an accredited nursing program with clinical hours preferred.
• Strong critical‑thinking, communication, teamwork, and adaptability to diverse patient populations.
