New Graduate Nurse - RN Residency

About the role

The RN Resident is a newly graduated registered nurse enrolled in a 12‑month Nurse Residency Program. The program is designed to support a smooth transition into professional practice by providing structured learning, mentorship, and hands‑on experience within an interprofessional team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient‑centered, evidence‑based nursing care in collaboration with an interprofessional team, ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Perform the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—tailored to individual patient needs.
• Engage families and significant others as active care partners, promoting culturally competent care.
• Coordinate care delivery, maintain documentation, and participate in performance improvement, research, and evidence‑based initiatives.
• Support professional development by completing required training, serving as a preceptor or mentor, and engaging in ongoing education.
• Adhere to organizational policies, standards, and ethical practices in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (diploma or bachelor’s degree).
• Current RN license (single‑state or multi‑state compact) and Basic Life Support certification.
• Less than one year of RN experience.
• Strong communication, critical‑thinking, time‑management, and computer skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, respond to emergencies, and collaborate effectively within a team.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with Epic clinical information system.
• Basic Life Support certification.
