About the role

The Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology at Tbilisi State University is inviting applications for scientific staff positions within its independent research unit. Two vacancies are announced: a full‑time researcher in the Modern History Department and a half‑time researcher in the Caucasus Ethnology Department. Tender documents must be submitted between 16 October 2026 and 18 October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research in modern history or Caucasus ethnology.
• Publish research results in academic journals and present at conferences.
• Collaborate with department colleagues on interdisciplinary projects.
• Prepare scholarly reports, articles, and teaching materials.
• Participate in seminars, workshops, and academic events.

Required profile

• Relevant academic degree (PhD or equivalent) in history, ethnology or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated research competence and a strong publication record.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent academic writing skills.
• Fluency in Georgian (English proficiency is an advantage).
