International Senior Quality Assurance / Materials Engineer

About the role

SHELADIA Associates is seeking an experienced International Senior Quality Assurance / Materials Engineer to supervise the construction of an EIB‑funded motorway in Georgia. The role involves ensuring that all materials and works meet contract specifications and international standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee detailed inspection and testing of construction materials and samples to verify compliance with approved designs.
• Audit contractor activities, testing records and quality documentation, addressing any non‑conformities.
• Establish and support effective QA/QC procedures and systems for construction supervision.
• Review specifications, testing procedures and acceptance criteria for pavement and other construction materials.
• Review and approve concrete mix designs submitted by the contractor.
• Supervise standardisation of laboratory and field testing requirements.
• Review geotechnical and materials investigations involving soil and rock.
• Support quality control for bridges, drainage crossings, high embankments, cut slopes and other highway structures.
• Verify the quality and quantity of completed works in coordination with site engineers.
• Assist the Team Leader in implementing the project‑wide Quality Assurance system.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of international experience as a QA, Materials or QC Engineer.
• At least 10 years of experience in road construction projects.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on projects executed under FIDIC Red Book or FIDIC MDB Harmonised Conditions of Contract.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, concrete, pavement materials, laboratory testing, QA/QC systems and construction specifications.
• Prior regional experience and involvement in major highway/motorway projects is highly desired.
