Software Engineer (Internal Tools & HR Automation)

About the role

Salmon is building a banking and lending platform in Southeast Asia and needs a Software Engineer to create and own the internal Frontline Employees Database that powers HR and operational processes for roughly 4,000 frontline staff.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automation and integration workflows using n8n (or similar low‑code platforms).
• Develop and optimise PostgreSQL data structures for custom internal solutions.
• Create internal applications, forms and user interfaces with Retool.
• Integrate HR and enterprise systems (HiBob, Ashby, etc.) via REST APIs, webhooks and custom Python/JavaScript logic.
• Test, troubleshoot, document and provide internal support for existing tools (≈20% of time).
• Collaborate with HR, Operations, People Partners and Support to translate business needs into MVPs and evolve them into reliable products.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with n8n, Make or another low‑code automation platform.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to work independently with relational databases.
• Experience building internal apps with Retool or similar tools.
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript for scripting and automation.
• Understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and common integration patterns.
• Proactive attitude, able to interpret incomplete requirements and make technical decisions, with good English communication.
