Senior Tunnel Engineer

About the role

SMEC, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer to lead construction supervision for a major tunnel infrastructure project currently at the EOI stage. The role involves ensuring technical compliance and quality throughout the tunnel works.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all tunnel construction activities and verify technical compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate with the Team Leader and Senior Resident Engineer on tunnel‑related matters.
• Monitor contractor performance, methods, and progress of tunnel works.
• Review technical submissions, method statements, and construction plans.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and international construction practices.
• Support reporting and documentation of tunnel construction activities.

Required profile

• Professional civil engineering qualification (e.g., BEng, MEng) with recognized accreditation such as PE, CEng, EUR ING.
• Approximately 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years on tunnel or similar infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in tunnel construction supervision and technical oversight.
• Excellent coordination, reporting, and communication abilities.
