Senior Bridge Engineer

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to provide specialist oversight on a major road and bridge supervision assignment in Georgia. The role involves ensuring that all bridge construction activities comply with approved designs, specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist oversight for bridge construction activities, monitoring progress and compliance.
• Ensure structural works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and quality assurance requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university and professional registration (PE, CEng, EUR ING or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in bridge engineering, construction and structural supervision, including at least 5 years on international projects.
• Experience with FIDIC‑based contract administration and familiarity with MDB‑funded infrastructure projects (ADB, World Bank, EBRD, AIIB) is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of bridge construction methodologies, contractor submissions, shop drawings and method statements.
• Knowledge of temporary works, quality assurance processes and FIDIC contract administration.
• Excellent English communication and report‑writing abilities.
