Founding AI Voice Engineer

About the role

We are building a voice‑first AI companion for mental health and personal development, available to anyone, anywhere. We’re looking for a Founding AI Voice Engineer to create the product from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship iOS and Android applications.
• Develop real‑time voice‑to‑voice AI agents for affective full‑duplex dialogue.
• Select and integrate appropriate large language models (LLMs) and voice models.
• Design and implement retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), memory, and context systems.
• Create AI personas, conversational logic, and safety guardrails.
• Translate psychological frameworks into AI behavior in collaboration with experts.
• Establish evaluation, monitoring, and testing pipelines.
• Own backend infrastructure, deployment, and optimization of latency, quality, reliability and inference cost.
• Guide the product from prototype through production to scale.

Required profile

• Proven experience building real‑time speech‑to‑speech or voice‑to‑voice AI agents.
• Deployed such agents in production environments.
• Hands‑on work with STT, LLM and TTS pipelines or native speech‑to‑speech models.
• Resolved latency, interruptions, turn‑taking and streaming challenges.
• Built agents capable of handling long, dynamic conversations.
• Managed LLM orchestration, RAG, memory and context.
• Owned end‑to‑end systems beyond prototype, including monitoring and scaling.
• Understands the difference between a short demo and a production‑ready voice agent.
