AVP Regional Manager – Commercial

About the role

The Assistant Vice President, Regional Manager – Commercial will lead a profit centre focused on surety bonds, overseeing underwriting, new business acquisition and renewal activities across a designated territory. This senior position combines strategic financial management with hands‑on agency development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the profit centre for a specific line of surety business, meeting premium volume, loss ratio, collection and expense targets.
• Underwrite, assess and manage a portfolio of performance and non‑performance bonds.
• Develop and execute personal and branch objectives, including budgeting and expense control.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers and clients through regular travel, meetings and clear communication.
• Collaborate with internal line‑of‑business teams and external partners to ensure timely credit approvals and account management.
• Participate in planning, expense management and performance reporting processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in surety underwriting or commercial insurance sales.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve financial targets and manage a profit centre.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with agents, brokers and corporate clients.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
• Excellent communication, listening and professional presentation abilities.
